WINTERFROST GRAND PREMIERS

My induction into the world of showing creatures was with dogs (Irish Setters, Gordon Setters, English Cocker Spaniels) and then Quarter horses. Our first pedigreed cat was a seal lynxpoint Colorpoint Shorthair named CH Yorcat Yipes Stripes. My introduction into showing cats started with GP El-Dia LyuYienJin LaoShu, otherwise known as Mouse - my all-time heart and soul cat. We bought Mouse from Barb Phelps of El-Dia Orientals as a pet - his tail had a lovely kink that made it look rather like a music note. Over time, Mouse grew up and got very sleek, and when his litter brother GC, NW El-Dia Blue Danube ended up 3rd Best Cat in the Nation for 1994-95 and I saw his picture on the cover of Cat Fancy magazine, I realized that Mouse looked a lot like his famous brother. I called Barb and asked her about showing him. Her first question was about the tail, which I said no longer had a kink, he somehow outgrew it. I entered Mouse in a nearby show and ended up having a blast – cat showing is a really great hobby.
One cat led to another, and soon I was showing a homebred Winterfrost cat. The first Winterfrost grand was GP Winterfrost Orion, a seal lynxpoint oriental shorthair.
Since Rion, we’ve granded a fair number of Winterfrosts and a few other cats along the way. A cat needs to defeat 200 champions to become a grand champion, and 75 premiers to become a grand premier.
